The Kahua Federal Construction Forum 2025 last week encouraged long-term, strategic thinking and use of technology and advanced processes by the U.S. Federal Government. Speakers from USACE, U.S. Department of State, and others showcased the use of Project Management Information Systems, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and a host of other issues. Kahua’s Nicholas Johnson, Chief Evangelist, and Arielle Scholz, Director, Strategic Partners, will join us on ALN Th@3 pm ET to provide an overview of the dynamic information shared last week at the historic Willard Hotel.

Public Buildings
Reform Board
Last week, the Washington Business Journal, published an article on how the Public Buildings Reform Board is working with the GSA to address the federal government’s 500 million square feet of office space that annually uses $2 billion in operation costs and $5 billion in leases. The PBRB is working closely with the Urban Land Institute, the National Capital Planning Commission, the Federal City Council, and the GSA to create a facilities divestment approach in the Washington, D.C. area where there is more than 21 million square feet of federal space. The article, written by Talmage Hocker, acting chairman of the Public Buildings Reform Board, suggests ways OMB can change rules to allow property swaps and other innovative practices to address the needs of the federal government while being responsive to local market conditions.

ALN Pilot Project Network
The ALN Pilot Project Network is an initiative that allows ALN Organizational Members to showcase their capabilities to owners in low-risk opportunities. Owners can understand how advanced, but proven, tools and processes dramatically improve mission outcomes. Owners will be able to explore both real-world pilots and virtual pilots, similar to what the ALN has conducted for many years, with ALN Organizational Members. An initial ALN Pilot Project has begun and is scheduled for presentation in 3 to 4 months. A monthly meeting will update attendees on current activities and showcase what is possible in ALN Pilot Projects. The first monthly meeting is Wednesday 23 April at 3 pm Eastern. Contact ALN Executive Director Mike Bordenaro for information about participating in the ALN Pilot Project Network at: mbordenaro@AssetLeadership.net.
