The Asset Leadership Network is happily reviewing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Coalition 4 Smarter Buildings (C4SB), which advocates for a Linux-based, cloud-native open tech stack for smarter buildings following principles for open-source, multi-system digital solutions developed by the Cloud Native Computing Foundation and the Linux Foundation. Anto Budiardjo’s Padi.io company is a member of both C4SB and the ALN. He will explain the link he sees between secure, open-source data sharing and Asset Management on this week’s ALN Th@3 pm. At Jacobs, we’re working to solve critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing, transforming the world for good.
People
Anto Budiardjo is CEO and Founder of Padi.io, a company that provides collaborative platforms that simplify the complexities of modern HVAC assets and Building Automation Systems. He developed the CdC Engine in 1991, which was the first PC-based integration platform and graphical User Interface for buildings. Since then, he has been a leader in the energy and controls industries. He is currently leading a C4SB effort named the Integrated Building Box, a computer installed in buildings to allow communication among all HVAC equipment manufacturers and Automation Systems. Join us Thursday as Mr. Budiardjo discusses how an HVAC solution can open doors to demonstrate Asset Management benefits to the C-Suite.

Disaster Preparedness
We hate to keep sharing Washington Post articles, but, without even knowing it, they are producing excellent Asset Management source material. An article from last week explains how hurricane Bertyl knocked out power in Houston. That disaster was followed by a heat wave that exacerbated medical conditions for people needing at-home medical equipment, refrigerated medicine, and access to medical records. This type of 1-2 disaster punch is specifically taxing on low-income individuals and families. The article says the situation could have been worse, but all cities need to consider preparing for this increasingly predictable calamitous situation. The ALN reached out the authors to request a web presentation on their well-researched article available at this link.

AM Sentiment Survey
The Value and Benefits from Asset Management team, which is a collaboration of the ALN and the Australian Asset Management Council, has established an Asset Management Sentiment Survey titled “Impact of Asset Management on Organizations and Society.” The survey will allow professionals to express their opinion on how Asset Management has impacted their nation. The team will conduct the survey annually and report on the changes in sentiment on how the effects of Asset Management can be seen in different countries. The first report on findings in Australia and the U.S. will at the October Value and Benefits from Asset Management web program in October 2024. Take the survey at this link and stay tuned for the registration link in future issue of ALN Line-of-Sight.
