GSA Amendments
Yesterday, the U.S. Government Services Agency released a final rule amending the
Federal Management Regulation
to engage community in decisions on where federal facilities are located and other issues. Community engagement is a key element of healthy asset management. It is good to formally require involvement of Tribal, state, and local leaders to choose locations for upcoming facilities. The amendments encourage addressing displacement, alignment with local development plans, critical issues involving energy use, sustainability, equity, and other issues.
GSA Administrator
Robin Carnahan said in a statement,
“By promoting sustainable and equitable development, this policy will help spur local economic opportunities, while also increasing trust that government services are delivered effectively.”
