Line-of-Sight Newsletter 22 October 2024

It is an active week for ALN Organizational Members, collaborators, and supporters.

This week’s special “Survey Edition” of the Value and Benefits from Asset Management web series is Wednesday 23 October at 5 pm Eastern. Take the first (that we know of) global Asset Management Sentiment Survey. Watch and discuss the differences in the survey results from the U.S. and Australia with our colleagues at the Asset Management Council. See more below in Ideas about the 4-minute video from last week’s ALN Th@3 pm ET that described the Survey and the value of Asset Management.

Already this week, DC Government’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer and the ALN met with a delegation from the South Korean Asset Management Corporation, which focuses on transforming non-performing assets into publicly available, valuable resources. The members of the delegation showed great interest in the RFP that DC Gov used to establish the next generation of their globally recognized Capital Asset Replacement Scheduling System (CARRS). That publicly available RFP will be presented in a future ALN program and will be available as a template also. See more in Sources below.

Guidehouse, an ALN Organizational Member, is making great strides at the Architect of the Capitol, which is growing its initiatives at the Senate Offices Buildings division as part of an overall expansion of Asset Management activities advancements. We joined Guidehouse in an informal briefing of the ALN benefits available to federal agencies, local governments, private companies and all organizations of any kind.

Which leads us to announcing that Byron Dunlop, Enterprise Asset Manager for the Architect of the Capitol will present during the ALN 2024 Federal Asset Leadership Insights web programs on November 13 and 14, 2024. See more below in People and register at this link.

And, a collaborative team of ALN Organizational Members is ready to submit a proposal for a Digital Twin System-of-Systems for a local government, multi-campus owner this week. The innovative, publicly available RFP will be the basis for an ALN Template Digital Twin System-of-Systems RFP that other owners can use. Look for more information soon. This team will be presenting at the National Institute of Building Sciences’ 2024 Digital Twins conference at National Harbor Maryland just outside Washington, D.C. December 9 – 11.

With all of this going on, we are using this week’s ALN Th@3 pm ET to provide an open discussion of ALN Organizational Members and the activities and programs that highlight their great work. Register at this link and join the ALN as Patron Member, Organizational Member, or Sole Practitioner Member to be part of the discussion this week, and every week.

The DC Government Office of the Chief Financial Officer has long been recognized as driving great value from its Capital Asset Replacement Scheduling System (CARRS). Review a recent report that demonstrates the type of information presentation that can be achieved when 100 departments roll up information into a single system to allow analysis and understanding that drives improved decision making about complex issues.

Ideas

AM Purpose

Last week’s ALN Th@3 pm ET web discussion focused on how rationale for establishing an Asset Management Sentiment Survey so countries can understand how people perceive AM activities in their nation or state. The program included a 4-minute exchange of ideas that was sort of a culmination of Asset Leadership purpose and mission. We usually provide a more substantive paper or report in Sources, but these 4 minutes of video describe real values and benefits nations or states receive from properly led Asset Management initiatives.
